Kolkata, Aug 25 (Reporter) The CBI on Sunday began raiding at least fifteen places, including the houses of the ousted RG Kar Medical Hospital's principal, Sandip Ghosh and a former super Sanjay Bashist in relation to alleged financial irregularities at the beleagured premier hospital.
The Central Bureau of Investigation began the search operation this morning a day after filing an FIR. The Calcutta High Court on Friday transferred the suspected financial corruption case the to the federal agency, which is already investigating the alleged horendous rape and murder of a 31 year old women doctor within the hospital premises on August 9.
The raids were being conducted at the residences and offices of former super Sanjay Bashist, head of the forensic department Debashis Shome, a supplier Biplab Singha and other suspects.
Sources said Sandip Ghosh allowed the CBI to enter his Beliaghata home after keeping them waiting for over an hour since 7 a.m.
Ghosh has already been quizzed for over 100 hours by the CBI in the alleged rape and murder of the post graduate trainee doctor.
Meanwhile, the cease work by the junior medics at the government hospitals entered the 17th day today. The protestors are demanding justice for their murdered female colleague and safety at their working place across the state.
