Bengaluru, Jan 11 (Reporter) The 'Know Your Army Mela 2025' held on Saturday at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground was a spectacular showcase of the Indian Army's cutting-edge combat equipment and thrilling adventure displays, captivating thousands of spectators.
The event highlighted the Army's operational capabilities, technological advancements, and its unwavering connection with the citizens.
The Mela featured a stunning array of military equipment, including tanks with mine-clearing capabilities, bulletproof vehicles, and drones. Soldiers in full battle gear engaged with visitors, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the equipment up close.
Meanwhile, adventure displays such as para-motor gliding, daring motorcycle stunts by the Tornadoes team, and combat bridge-laying exercises demonstrated the Army's technical expertise and adaptability.
A major highlight of the event was the tribute to the Veer Naris, women who lost their husbands in service to the nation. Their sacrifices were honoured, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to remembering its fallen heroes.
The event also saw vibrant cultural performances, including the Khukri Dance by the 4/8 Gorkha Rifles, and performances by over 2,000 school children from various schools, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The event, organised by the Indian Army to commemorate the 77th Army Day, was hosted by the Headquarters Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area. Major General VT Mathew, General Officer Commanding, Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area, PVSM, YSM, inaugurated the Mela by releasing tricolour balloons and paying homage to the Veer Naris.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem played by the Army Pipe Band, followed by an impressive para-motor gliding demonstration that set the tone for the day.
Among the most thrilling attractions was the SHWET ASHWA Motorcycle Display Team of the Corps of Military Police, which left the spectators in awe with their daring stunts. The team, which holds three Guinness World Records, demonstrated the precision, skill, and daring spirit of the Indian Armed Forces.
The 'Know Your Army Mela 2025' underscored the Army's role as the "People’s Army," with its deep connection to citizens and its essential role in nation building. Visitors interacted with soldiers, learned about the Army’s crucial contributions to national security, and explored career opportunities within the forces.
