Latur, Sep 4 (Reporter) President Droupadi Murmu said on Wednesday that the Maharashtra government has now taken strong steps for women's economic empowerment and increased their self-reliance and decision-making power with the launch of Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana and appealed women to come forward in the political field to lead country.
Speaking at a programme of the CM Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, CM Youth Work Training Scheme and Government Apalya Dari Yojana organised under the CM Women Empowerment Mission at the ground of Maharashtra Udayagiri College in Udgir, she expressed happiness that the state government is promoting women empowerment and said that Maharashtra has set a new model of women empowerment in front of the country.
Besides the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, she expressed her happiness with other schemes of the Maharashtra government for women such as the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, saying that the results of these schemes are visible.
Praising the glorious history of Maharashtra, the President said that many noble women including Rajmata Jijau, Savitribai Phule, Bahinabai Chaudhari and Sindhutai Sapkal, are role models in Maharashtra.
Noting that women constitute half of the country's population, she said that in every family, women play a major role in managing the livelihood.
Therefore, she appealed to the women and girls that they should come forward in the political field and lead the country.
While, she asked men to now recognise the potential of women and support them to realise their dreams.
"Also, in our culture honouring women is considered masculine," she said and hoped that this honour would be seen in every family.
Ms Murmu advised women to take care of their health while being leaders on all fronts...////...
