Hyderabad, July 14 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reaffirmed the Congress government's commitment to supporting caste-based workers in the state. Speaking after distributing Katamaiah protective kits to toddy-tappers through the Backward Class Corporation at a program held in Lashkarguda, Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy district on Sunday, Reddy praised the toddy collectors (Gaudannas) for their support in bringing the Congress to power. "The Gaudannas have campaigned tirelessly for the Congress, believing that respect for the weaker sections will increase only if the Congress is in power. 'Gaudanna' is a nickname symbolizing manhood and fighting spirit. Our government is committed to supporting these workers," Reddy stated. He acknowledged the Gaudannas' experience of climbing trees as crucial for their protection and expressed sincere appreciation for their efforts. Highlighting the Congress's dedication to uplifting weaker sections, Reddy recalled the fee reimbursement scheme introduced during the YSR regime and pledged to advance this initiative. He emphasized the government's support for cultivating palm trees on government lands as part of the Vanamahotsavam celebrations, instructing Exercise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao to lead this effort. Reddy also urged IT and Industry Minister Sridhar Babu to collaborate with the Irrigation Department to plant trees along ponds and canals. He reiterated the government's commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the Gaudannas and encouraged caste-dependent families to prioritize education for their children, aspiring for them to become future leaders and lawmakers. "Education is the only way for the weaker sections to become rulers," Reddy said. He announced plans to extend the Metro to Hayat Nagar and revealed initiatives to establish universities, medical tourism, and industries on land acquired for pharmaceutical companies. The government aims to develop a magnificent city in Maheshwaram to rival New York City and transform the scenic Rachakonda area into a hub for the film industry. Reddy declared, "A prosperous era is coming to Rangareddy district. We will make it a world-class tourist center." Criticizing previous administrations, he contrasted the Congress's achievements, such as the Outer Ring Road, the pharma industry, and the international airport, with allegations of drug-related issues under other parties' rule. Asserting that BRS MLAs are now supporting Congress for Telangana's development, Reddy projected a decade-long Congress rule in the state. He accused former BRS leaders of leaving Telangana in debt but assured that his government is making corrections and progressing steadily. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad, IT and Industry Minister D.
