Hyderabad, Aug 5 (Reporter) Telangana Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Capt. N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Congress Government will provide 24-hour quality electricity to farmers, domestic, and industrial sectors throughout the year.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony for a 33/11 KV power substation in Bakkamanthula Gudem, Mathampally Mandal, Kodad constituency, he highlighted the decade-long demand for the substation, costing Rs 2.5 crore. He directed officials to expedite the completion of the NCL and Chennai Palam substations in Sultanpur Tanda.
Reddy criticised the previous BRS regime for falsely claiming 24-hour power supply to farmers and emphasised the Congress government's practical approach to solving issues at both micro and macro levels. He stressed the focus on improving rural infrastructure and ensuring government scheme benefits reach the entire population.
The minister announced that the repair of Amaravaram and Peddavedu lift irrigation projects will be completed soon, with a target to add 30-35 lakh acres of ayacut in five years. This year, Rs 10,820 crore has been allocated to increase the ayacut by 6–6.5 lakh acres, prioritising the completion of pending irrigation projects.
Under various schemes, farmers will receive input subsidies, quality seeds and fertilisers, uninterrupted power, support during harvesting, and MSP for crops. Reddy also highlighted the success of other schemes like Gruha Jyoti, providing zero bills for those using less than 200 units of power, and the Mahalakshmi scheme, offering free RTC bus travel for women. Gas cylinders are available for Rs. 500 for eligible families.
He further announced developmental projects for Mathampally Mandal, including a 10-meter-wide road from Huzurnagar to Mattampalli costing Rs 80 crore, a road from Chautapalli to Mellachervu for Rs 10 crore, and two bridges on the Mattampally to Janapahad road for Rs 17 crore. The Chennai Palem bridge will be built for Rs 11.5 crore.
District Collector Tejas Nand Lal Pawar, Huzur Nagar RDO Srinivas, Zilla Parishad CEO VV Apparao, and other senior officials attended the event.
Later, Reddy attended the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Kodad Lorry Owners Association, ensuring the resolution of long-pending issues related to taxation, permits, and licensing and highlighting the significance of lorry transport in the region due to numerous cement factories and rice mills...////...
