Mumbai, Feb 11 (Reporter) Maharashtra in-charge of Congress party, Ramesh Chennithala, on Sunday hit out at the BJP-led corrupt grand coalition government in the state, saying it has completely failed to maintain law and order.
Addressing a press conference after Congress Core Committee meeting held at party head office here, he listed out recent incidents that led to deterioration in law and order situation in the state such as attack on senior journalist Nikhil Wagle in Pune, murders in Nagpur, firing incidents in Mumbai, and said because of these incidents people are scared.
Neither the Chief Minister nor Home Minister is coming forth to answer question, he noted.
The Home minister's job is to maintain law and order in the state but instead, he makes a statement like "even if a dog comes under the cart, the Opposition will demand his resignation", the Congress leader said in a jibe.
This clearly indicates that situation in Maharashtra is very bad, as criminals are not being prosecuted, hence the Congress party leaders met the Governor and demanded to impose President's rule in the state, he said.
He also said that the government in Maharashtra is not elected by people but is made up of those, who switched sides and joined the government after they were intimidated of central investigation agencies like Enforcement Directorate and CBI, he claimed.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi will contest the Lok Sabha and then the Assembly elections in the state strongly, he averred and scotched rumours of disagreement over seat allocation in MVA constituents.
Citing example of Karnataka, Chennithala said, BJP overthrew the Congress government and formed its government, but in the subsequent assembly elections, the local people defeated BJP and elected Congress with a majority.
Similarly, in Maharashtra, the people will defeat this corrupt government and win the Congress in upcoming elections, he said and informed that a two-daycamp will be held next week at Lonavala to discuss preparations for elections.
When asked whether Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) will be implemented before the Lok Sabha elections this year, Chennithala replied that BJP raises the issue when elections come...////...
