Congress party demands JPC probe in Adani scam

Mumbai, Aug 21 (Reporter) Noting that the Hindenburg report on alleged scam in industrialist Gautam Adani-run companies is just a tip of the iceberg, the Congress party on Wednesday demanded that the entire matter should be investigated by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Talking to reporters here at the party headquarter, Congress Working Committee member and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Nasir Hussain said that the Hindenburg report has exposed alleged nexus between Gautam Adani, SEBI and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to the corrupt alliance of PM Modi and his special industrialist friend Adani, the country is suffering huge economic losses, he claimed and alleged that the government machinery is being misused on a large scale for this one friend. The Supreme Court has ordered an inquiry into the Adani scam, but even after eight months, the inquiry has not been completed so far, he noted. SEBI has been tasked with investigating Adani's alleged malpractices, but its chief Madhavi Buch reportedly has investments in Adani's companies, the Congress leader charged. "There is also the issue of shell companies, money laundering for investment in Adani company. And most importantly, if the name of Prime Minister of the country is associated with a scam, the facts should be thoroughly investigated and brought before the public, but the BJP government and Modi do not seem to be doing that," he said and pointed that the Hindenburg report on the Adani scam is just a tip of the iceberg. Furthermore, it has been revealed that PM Modi had told the government to get projects in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to Adani, he alleged and claimed that Modi always takes Adani with him on foreign tours. Dr Hussain further alleged that the government machinery has been misused to get airports, ports, cement companies to Adani while citing instances of NDTV, ACC-Ambuja Cement, GVK and Nellore Krishnapatnam port. Government banks and financial institutions, such as State Bank of India and LIC, have invested huge sums of money in Adani's company, he added...////...
