Hyderabad, July 20 (Reporter) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G. Niranjan stated that the Congress party holds full respect for the devotees participating in the Kavadi Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, and other states from July 22 to August 2.
In a statement on Saturday, Niranjan highlighted that it is customary for devotees from different regions to collect water from the Ganges in Haridwar and Varanasi and carry it on foot to their hometowns to perform abhishekam at their local Shiva temples.
He emphasized the responsibility of ruling governments to provide facilities for the devotees during this highly sacred yatra, which sees the participation of thousands of devotees, and to ensure that their holy customs are maintained.
However, Niranjan criticized the BJP governments for allegedly becoming narrow-minded under the guise of providing facilities to devotees, imposing conditions such as requiring the names of owners and staff on every shop, hotel, dhaba, and cart. He called this a conspiracy to divide society and create conflict between religions, castes, and people.
He further stated that this move is detrimental to ethnic integrity and can lead to economic inequality and mutual animosity. Niranjan added that such actions reveal the BJP's increasing entrenchment despite the people's clear rejection of communalism in the parliamentary elections.
Niranjan criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that a true yogi should not harbour hatred. He accused Adityanath of using these measures to distract from the growing discontent against him within the BJP following the Lok Sabha elections.
He urged Prime Minister Modi to immediately take steps to curb this trend, warning of serious future consequences if such actions continue...////...
