Congress slams Nitish government for forcible installation of smart meters in Bihar

Patna, Oct 11 (Reporter) The Congress party on Friday slammed the Nitish Kumar government for forcible installation of smart meters in Bihar, saying there was lot of resentment among the people over the issue in the state. Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee(BPCC) President Akhilesh Prasad Singh told media persons here that there was widespread resentment among people of Bihar as smart meters were being forcibly installed in households of the state. Electricity bills had increased manifold after installation of smart meters, he alleged and added that poor people of Bihar were not in a position to bear the burden of inflated billing. Singh said that Kerala was well educated state but government had stopped the process of installation of smart meters there. Similarly, installation of smart meters had also been stopped in Gujarat and Maharashtra where BJP was in power, he pointed out. The Congress leader said that his party would stage statewide dharna on October 16 to protest against installation of smart meters in Bihar. His party would exert pressure on Nitish Kumar government to stop the process for installation of smart meters in Bihar, he asserted...////...
