Mumbai, Apr 17 (Reporter) Maharashtra Congress in-charge Ramesh Chennithala informed on Thursday that the state- and the district-level executive will be restructured soon at a party camp to be organised in Mahabaleshwar.
Talking to newsmen here, he accused the coalition government in the state of having betrayed the people.
"It has forgotten the promise of giving Rs 2,100 to the beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme and now only Rs 500 is being given," he said and claimed that the Mahayuti had brought this scheme only for votes.
The Congress had already warned that the Mahayuti was cheating the dear sisters, he said.
A meeting of Congress party MPs was held in his presence and chaired by state president Harshvardhan Sapkal, followed by a meeting of senior party leaders, in which strategy and detailed discussions were held on raising voices inside and outside the Assembly on anti-people policies of the BJP-led central and state governments.
Senior Congress party leader and former minister late Dr Shrikant Jichkar's son, Yajnavalkya Jichkar, rejoined the Congress party. He was suspended during the election period, which was withdrawn and he was allowed to join the party.
Aam Aadmi Party's state vice-president and spokesperson Dhananjay Shinde also joined the Congress party today.
