Hyderabad, Sep 9 (Reporter) Senior IPS officer C V Anand assumed charge as Hyderabad Police Commissioner at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Jubilee Hills on Monday. Speaking to the media, Anand emphasized the importance of friendly policing, stating that the police department will focus on building strong relations with the public while taking a firm stance against criminals. He highlighted the significance of the upcoming Vinayaka (Ganesh) immersion event in Hyderabad to be held on September 17, assuring that necessary measures will be implemented to ensure a peaceful celebration. Anand also addressed the phone tapping case, noting that he has yet to review the file but plans to conduct a thorough examination. He acknowledged reports of traffic chaos in the city and promised to resolve the issue. Additionally, he affirmed that strict action would be taken to combat crimes such as drugs, murders, rapes, and other law and order violations. A 1991 batch IPS officer from the Telangana cadre, he previously served as Commissioner from December 2021 to October 2023. In 2017, he was promoted to Additional Director General of Police and transferred to Central Services, before returning to Telangana in 2021. In August 2023, the Telangana state government granted him the status of DGP.
