Bengaluru, June 22 (Reporter) Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his four alleged accomplices have been remanded to judicial custody until July 4 in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.
Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan, was found dead on June 9 near a stormwater drain adjacent to an apartment in Sumanahalli. The post-mortem report revealed that he died from shock and hemorrhage due to multiple blunt force injuries.
Darshan had been in police custody since June 11. During the hearing, the Special Public Prosecutor requested that the accused be lodged separately in different jails across Karnataka, which Darshan’s legal team opposed.
The court's decision led to Darshan and his aides being transferred to the central prison at Parappana Agrahara in Bengaluru. A large crowd of fans gathered at the court, chanting slogans in support of Darshan, who acknowledged them with a wave from the police van.
In total, 17 people are implicated in this case. Previously, 13 other accused, including Darshan's friend Pavithra Gowda, were remanded to 14 days' judicial custody.
According to police, Renukaswamy had allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra, which reportedly enraged Darshan and led to Renukaswamy's murder...////...
