Pune, Oct 26 (Reporter) Shiv Sena leader and Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council, Dr Neelam Gorhe, on Saturday termed the death of three construction workers in Bhosari area of the district as 'very unfortunate' and called for mandatory registration of labourers.
She made this demand during a visit to the site of the labour camp, where three labourers were killed and seven others were injured after a water tank collapsed on them while they were taking bath on Thursday.
Dr Gorhe said that the tragedy that has struck the workers on eve of the Diwali festival is very unfortunate.
She expressed that if the labour contractor here had properly constructed the tank, this incident would not have occurred.
There is no proper information on labourers as to which states they came here from, she rued.

Often the contractors delay official registration of the labourers to avoid paying these benefits, so it is necessary to start a campaign to make the registration of workers mandatory, she demanded.
Since the workers who died in this incident were from outside the state, the respective administration of their states should be informed about this tragic incident and the victims' family should also be informed, Dr Gorhe said.
The company should bear the expenses of all those who have been injured in this incident and those who are undergoing treatment and should submit a detailed report to the government, she added...////...
