Bengaluru, June 11 (Reporter) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has described the recent general election results as a "warning bell," emphasising the necessity for strategic reevaluation.
Out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, the Congress managed to secure victories in just nine parliamentary constituencies.
Speaking to reporters at his official residence late last evening, Shivakumar stated, "We will conduct review meetings with all leaders. It is time for introspection and necessary course corrections. The results are a warning bell."
Shivakumar revealed that review meetings are slated for various constituencies across the state, with dates to be announced shortly.
Acknowledging Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's discontent with the results in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, Shivakumar noted that the party had anticipated winning 14-15 seats but fell short. He underscored the need to accept the people's verdict, pointing out that party leaders hadn't secured votes from their hometowns.
Addressing the issue of ministers blaming MLAs for the defeat, Shivakumar remarked that no complaints had been brought to his attention. He pinpointed the futility of the blame game and urged constituency leaders to engage with party workers, investigate defeat reasons, and propose recommendations.
