Chennai, Mar 20 (Reporter) DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin released the party's manifesto for the April 19 Lok Sabha polls offering a slew of promises that included appointment of State Governors with CM's consultation, reduction of LPG and fuel prices, exemption from NEET. The manifesto also promises Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for all women in the country, besides abolition of Article 356 and removal of Article 361 of the Constitution, Highlighting the key promises announced in the manifesto, Mr Stalin told reporters that amendments would be made to the Constitution of India to accommodate relevant recommendations of expert committees on Centre-State relations in order to grant more autonomy to States; the appointment of Governors after duly consulting the Chief Ministers of States; abolition of Article 356 and the removal of Article 361 of the Constitution of India and exempt Tamil Nadu from the purview of NEET exams in admissions to UG medical courses. The DMK also promised that it would establish a branch of the Supreme Court in Chennai; secure Statehood for Union Territory of Puducherry and reducing the prices of LPG to Rs 500, petrol to Rs 75 and diesel to Rs 65 per litre. The DMK also promised conduct caste census once in five years and immediately implement 33 per cent Reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures if the INDIA Bloc was voted to power in the ensuing polls. A separate budget for Railways; implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations to improve the livelihood of Muslims; abolition of the proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ policy; repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA); formation of a State Development Council including Chief Ministers; removal of all toll plazas on national highways; prevention of implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, holding exams for Union government jobs, both written and oral, in Tamil and other respective State official languages; declaration of Tamil as the official language of the Madras High Court and co-official language in Union government offices and Indian citizenships for Sri Lankan Tamils lodged in refugee camps are some of the other promises made in the manifesto. “It is not only the manifesto of the DMK, but the manifesto of the people of Tamil Nadu", Mr Stalin said. Stating that the DMK has fulfilled its poll promises after coming to power, he alleged that the fascist BJP, which came to power in 2014, has destroyed the country in all aspects and the Narendra Modi-led government has failed to fulfil its poll promises. Mr. Stalin said “It is not good for the country if the Modi government continues to remain in power. The INDIA bloc has been formed in the interest of the nation, and to unseat the Modi government from power." He also assured that soon after the formation of the new government at the Centre, steps will be taken to implement all the poll promises and extend the initiatives taken by the ‘Dravidian Model’ government in Tamil Nadu across India...////...
