Chennai, Aug 24 (Reporter) Sending out a clear message and countering and dismissing the
oft-repeated criticisms that the ruling DMK was against hindus and also to drive home the
point that it was not against religious sentiments, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on
Saturday said his Dravidian model of governance never hindered the people's religious
faith.
Speaking after inaugurating Muthamizh Murugan Ulaga Manadu (Global conference on Lord
Muruga) at Palani, one of the six abodes of Muruga via video-conferencing from Chennai,
he said each people will have different type of beliefs which has no barriers and there is
no high or low in it.
The DMK's dravidian model government never stood against this..it has never been a
barrier to different faiths followed by the people and is not against spiritualism, he said.
Moreover, the government has been functioning taking into consideration the welfare of
all religious faiths and was committed to its principle of everything for all, he said, while
asserting that the DMK regime was not atheist and listed out various steps taken by the
HR and CE department that included consecration, restoration and renovation of temples,
building of temple towers, recovery of encroached temple staff and welfare measures
introduced for the temple staff.
Meanwhile, BJP Leader Ms Tamilisai Soundararajan said this conference indicated
that those who speak against Santhana Dharma cannot do politics in Tamil Nadu
anymore without speaking about spirituality.
Questioning Mr Stalin for attending the inaugration of the conference in person,
she claimed that the event was a strategy to garner votes.
If a conference was organised relating to the faith of the minorities in the State,
the Chief Minister would have inaugurated it by attending it in person.
