Chennai, Dec 12 (Reporter) The Indian High Commission in Islamabad is making all efforts for the early release of 14 fishermen arrested by the Pakistan authorities in January this year. External Affairs Minister Dr S.Jaishankar, in a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said the Government is aware of the detention of these 14 fishermen, along with their boats by the Pakistani authorities on January 3, 2024. The matter was taken up with the Pakistan Government. Consular access has been sought for the fishermen, which is yet to be provided by Pakistan, he said, in reply to Mr Stalin's November 20 letter written to him seeking. early release of the fishermen. "Our High Commission in Islamabad continues to seek early consular access for the 14 fishermen and has requested Pakistan to ensure their safety, security and well-being until they are repatriated to India", Dr Jaishankar said.
