ECI warns BJP's East Tripura candidate for offensive remarks

Agartala, Apr 13 (Reporter) The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday warned the BJP candidate for the East Tripura parliamentary constituency, Kriti Devi Debbarman, to abstain from offensive remarks against the opposition parties that attracted violations of the Model Code of Conduct of the election. The Returning Officer of East Tripura Saju Vaheed A in an order that Kriti Devi Debbarman, in an election rally on April 8 in Fatikroy under Unakoti district, had made an objectionable statement that was reported to local media on the next day. Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, moved to the ECI against Debbarman, alleging that while addressing the rally, she referred to CPI-M as a gang of murderers and the party of killers.
