Gadchiroli, Jan 1 (Reporter) Eleven Naxalites surrendered in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on the first day of the new year on Wednesday in the presence of state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The ultras, who laid down their arms, included Jahal (Hardcore) Naxalite Tarakka.
Fadnavis said the new year has brought a new dawn of development for Gadchiroli and the region's progress towards development, social harmony, peace and industrialisation will continue.
The chief minister inaugurated a bus service from Aheri to Gardewada and also travelled on that bus. He initiated various initiatives of Lloyds Industries, which is investing Rs 6,200 crores for creating 4000 jobs.
These include a plant at Konsari (Rs. 400 crore investment, 700 jobs), a pellet plant and slurry pipeline (Rs. 3000 crore investment, 1000 jobs), an Iron Ore Grinding plant at Hedari, Ettapally (Rs. 2,700 crore investment, 1500 jobs) , including the Vanya Garment Unit (Rs. 20 crore investment, 600 jobs). Besides Lloyds Kali Ammal Hospital and Lloyds Raj Vidyaniketan CBSE School was opened by the Chief Minister.
About 1,200 students will get education here. Lloyds has also taken the initiative of giving workers and ex-Naxalites a form of ownership by offering shares worth 1000 crores in the company. These shares were awarded by the Chief Minister.
Fadnavis also inaugurated the Gatta-Gardewada-Wangeturi road and Tadguda Bridge.
He interacted with jawans and villagers at Pengunda. This area is considered extremely remote and Naxal-influenced. He is the first Chief Minister to visit the area...////...
