Mumbai, May 1 (Reporter) The 2024 Lok Sabha election is all about democracy versus dictatorship, said former Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Bhalchandra Mungekar on Wednesday, as he cautioned that PM Narendra Modi's return will spell doom for the Constitution and unleash dictatorship in the country. Speaking on the occasion of Maharashtra Day and Labor Day at the Congress headquarters Tilak Bhavan here, Mungekar said: "RSS has been against the Constitution since the beginning. "BJP's slogan of '400 paar' is only to change the Constitution, so no matter how much PM Modi says that the Constitution will not be changed, he cannot be trusted." "Modi is misleading the people," the former MP said, adding that the BJP and PM Modi should be removed from power to keep democracy and constitution intact. He said that the BJP has no faith in democracy or the Constitution. "Former Sarsanghchalak Golwalkar had said that the Constitution is a mystery," Mungekar reminded his audience. He also referred to BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde, who has publicly stated that it will be changed if his party gets a majority of 400 seats. Mungekar said that even PM Modi's economic adviser had talked about the necessity of a new Constitution. "So, even if Prime Minister Modi repeats in every campaign rally that the Constitution will not be changed, no one should trust him." He said, "BJP is spreading canards that Congress has changed the Constitution, but there is a difference between amending and changing it." The Modi government has also recently amended it with regards to the appointment of the Election Commissioner, he said. The Congress leader said that after the first two phases of the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP has realised they are losing. "Modi is scared of defeat, so now he is saying, 'I am only an excuse, God has sent me'," Mungekar said targeting the prime minister for presenting himself as an incarnation of God...////...
