Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (Reporter) England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first against India in the third ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Wednesday. India made two changes to their playing XI, resting Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami, while Varun Chakravarthy was unavailable due to a sore calf. Rohit Sharma stated that India would have preferred to bat first regardless, aiming to build on their momentum from the previous game. "The fielding unit has been impressive, and the young players are showing great potential. We want to keep the pressure off them and allow them to play their natural game," Rohit said. Buttler, on the other hand, felt that bowling first could be advantageous, especially considering potential spin later in the game. "We batted first in the first two games, so this will be a different experience ahead of the Champions Trophy," Buttler remarked. The pitch report indicated a surface identical to the one used in the World Cup final, with black soil likely to assist spinners as the game progresses. The boundaries measure 66m square and 74m straight. Experts Deep Dasgupta and Graeme Swann opined that the surface could play slow initially but would ease out later, with dew potentially becoming a factor in the second innings. India will look to capitalise on Rohit's return to form after his century in the previous match. However, concerns remain over Virat Kohli’s run of scores and the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, due to a lower back injury.
