Hyderabad, Feb 18 (Reporter) Telangana Transport and Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar asked the officials on Tuesday to ensure smooth Ramzan arrangements without any hiccups.
He held a review meeting at the Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat, here to discuss preparations for the upcoming month of Ramzan, which begins on March 2.
The meeting focused on various arrangements for the month of Ramzan. GHMC Commissioner Ilambarti highlighted special measures being taken for cleanliness throughout the city, with dedicated sanitation teams being deployed at mosques and Eidgahs.
He assured that street lights would be repaired, temporary lights would be installed, and road repairs would be completed. Special focus is being placed on Mecca Masjid, Royal Mosque, and Miralam Eidgah, with all work being executed on a priority basis.
The GHMC entomology team has also been conducting fogging to prevent mosquitoes at night. Plastic covers are being distributed at mosques, and a control room has been set up, with special officers appointed for coordination across all departments.
Water Works MD Ashok Reddy mentioned that water packets have been made available at mosques and Eidgahs, with special tankers deployed to meet the drinking water needs.
Drainage repairs along routes leading to mosques are also underway. Electricity officials announced that mobile transformers would be installed to meet the increased demand for power during the summer months, and emergency staff would be available 24/7 at mosques during Eid.
The R&B department confirmed that they were ready to set up tents at mosques and install barricades for crowd management. Dairy officials assured that milk supplies would meet the demands of the community during Ramzan. JAD officials confirmed that instructions had been issued to Muslim employees to complete their duties by 1600 hours.
MLAs and MLCs urged police officers to manage traffic efficiently to avoid disruptions during Ramzan and allow street vendors to operate until midnight. They emphasized the importance of smooth traffic management during the festival.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar instructed medical officials to implement special measures to ensure health and safety, including setting up health camps at Eidgahs and mosques.
He also directed that medical personnel be available at all times. Additionally, Civil Supply officials were instructed to ensure timely distribution of rations to Muslim residents to facilitate smooth celebrations during Ramzan.
