Kolhapur, Satara, May 19 (Reporter) Senior Congress leader and former state Minister Prataprao Bhosale, passed away on Sunday morning of old age at his residence at Bhuij in Wai tehsil of this district.
He was 90 . He is survived by his three sons, including former MLA Madan Bhosale, and a daughter.
The former Minister who started his political career as a Sarpanch of Bhuij village had been elected as MLA four times from Wai-Khandala Assembly constituency during 1967–1985. After the demise Yashwantrao Chavan, he represented the Satara Loksabha constituency three times in the 8th, 9th, and 10th Loksabha. During this period, he held many important posts, including that of Congress state President in 1997.
Working under the leadership of the late Chavan and Deshbhakt Abasaheb Veer, Bhosale contributed to the establishment of the Kisan Veer Satara co-operative sugar factory, Janata education institutions, and agriculture and cooperation sectors. He was known in Maharashtra as a highly cultured, firm-minded, and self-respecting leader.
According to family members, his last rites will be held later in the evening at Degaon Road in Bhuij...////...
