Chennai, Jan 3(Reporter) In a tragic and shocking incident, an UKG girl student was drowned
after she allegedly slipped and fell into a sceptic tak at a private school at Vikravandhi
West Village on Friday in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, even as Chief Minister M K Stalin, saddened over the incident, announced a solatium of Rs three lakh to her parents.
As locals launched a protest alleging negligence on the part of school management as the girl, considering her tender age, could not have climbed the tall wall surrounding the tank and fell
into it, Police have arrested three people, including school Principal Dominic Mary.
Locals also alleged foul play and staged protests in front of the school.
After senior police officials intervened and promised to take action, they dispersed.
The body was fished out from the tank and sent to government hospital for autopsy, as a pall of gloom descended on the village.
Meanwhile, Mr Stalin said expressed shock and sadness over the death of the young girl Leo Lakshmi and announced a solatium of Rs three lakh to her parents from the Chief Minister's
Public Relief Fund.
Leaders of Opposition parties also strongly condemned the incident and blamed the lackadaisicial attitude of the school management that led to the tragedy.
