Mumbai, Dec 25 (Reporter) Maharashtra police on Wednesday registered an FIR against 12 social media users for allegedly sharing "doctored and incomplete" video of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The officials said the video's content was designed to "incite societal unrest, hurt the sentiments of specific groups and potentially lead to a law and order situation" in Maharashtra.
According to the state cyber police officials, who are conducting the probe, a formal complaint was filed with them after the video surfaced on social media platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
It is alleged that the video had shown that the Chief Minister of Maharashtra does not believe in the Constitution of India, democracy and any constitutional body. It further suggested that he aims to create a parallel state.
