Five people including four children drown in separate incidents in Kerala

Kannur, Dec 28 (Reporter) Five people including four children aged between 9 to 17, were drowned in different rivers in Kasaragod and Kannur districts of Northern Kerala, on Saturday. While three children from a family drowned while bathing at the Erinhipuzha River at Kanathur near Bovikanam in Kasaragod district, two people including a 9-years old child drowned in the Charal River at Vallithode near Ritty in Kannur district. Police identified the deceased as Riyas (17) of Manjeswaram, Yasin (13) Samad (13) hailing from Erinhipuzha. All the victims were relatives. They were washed away by the strong current of the river while bathing. Locals rescued the children and alerted the Police and Fire Force personnel. Fire force rescued Riyas first and shifted him to a private hospital at Cherkala, but doctors declared him dead. The bodies of Yasin and Samad were recovered by the Fire force Scooba team later and shifted to Kasaragod Taluk Hospital for post mortem. Meanwhile, in another accident at Vallithode near Iritty in Kannur district, Alwin (9) and Vincent (42) of Varam were drowned in the Charal river near Vallithode. The accident took place at around 1500 hrs, when both of them went to see the Charal River. Alwin accidentally fell in the river, and while Vincent attempted to escape Alwin he also drowned in the river. Both the bodies were recovered by the residents and fire force and shifted to a private hospital at Iritty...////...
