Bhubaneswar, Sep 28 (Reporter) Five employees including a contractual, of Rourkela Steel Plant, were injured in a mishap inside the steel melting shop-I (SMS-I) on Saturday All the injured workers have been admitted to the burn unit of the Ispat General Hospital (IGH). The workers sustained burn injuries after molten iron splashed on them. Sources said the mishap took place during the steel-making process in the converters. This morning when this process was going on in the converter ‘Q’ of SMS-1, a jam stuck up in the movable hood of the converter suddenly fell into the converter thereby resulting in splashing of residual slag. The condition of all the injured workers is stable, hospital sources said. RSP Director In-Charge Atanu Bhowmick has expressed his deep concern over the incident and assured the best possible treatment facilities for the injured persons.
