Kolkata, Jan 28 (Reporter)Former West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee who is in jail, on Tuesday sought judicial approval to get admitted to a private hospital in the city.
Sources said the advocate appearing for Chatterjee in an application to the Bankshall Court in the city sought judicial permission for the transfer of his client from the government-owned SSKM Hospital to a private hospital.
Chatterjee, who has been in jail since 2022 after the Enforcement Directorate and then the CBI in October 2024 arrested him in connection with the irregularities in recruitment to the West Bengal School Service Commission, was admitted to the state-owned super speciality SSKM hospital on January 22.
But his advocate informed the court since the health condition of Chatterjee was not improving according to his expectation, he wanted to be treated in a private hospital in the city.
Sources said the court then sought a report from the SSKM, which also handed a detailed report of his ailments and treatment progress.
The court then told the advocate that his client has to bear the treatment expenses...////...
