Former JDU MP Lalan Singh calls on PM Modi

Patna, Feb 2 (Reporter) After the formation of the NDA government in Bihar headed by the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, former JDU president Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday. Sharing his photographs with Modi on his social media account X during the day, Singh himself informed about his meeting with the PM at the PMO. Singh, who on several occasions had vociferously targeted the PM, wrote on his social media account that it was a courtesy meeting. However, the meeting was being considered to be a crucial one as the cabinet expansion and portfolio distribution among the ministers in Bihar turned out to be a vexed issue on which CM Kumar too was perplexed to such an extent that no final decision could be taken even after six days of the oath taking. The BJP was exerting pressure to get major portfolios in the cabinet. Along with Kumar, four ministers from JDU, three from the BJP, one from Hindustani Awam Morcha, and an independent MLA were administered the oath on January 28. The portfolios were yet to be assigned to them, and the delay was indicative of hurdles on the way. Lalan Singh was considered instrumental in the formation of the Grand Alliance government in Bihar and played a pivotal role in binging together the JDU and RJD. Political pundits opine that when differences between CM Nitish Kumar and RJD leaders widened, Singh lost the post of JDU national president just because of his closeness to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav...////...
