Former Kerala Cong chief Kunhikannan passes away

Kasaragod, Sep 26 (Reporter) Former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) General Secretary and Ex-Uduma Assembly legislator K P Kunhikannan, 75, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Kannur, family sources said. He is survived by wife K Susheela and two children — KPK Thilakan and KPK Thulasi. Kunhikannan had been undergoing treatment after an accident on September 4 in which his car rammed into a divider at Karuvanchery near Neelaswaram. Party sources said his body will be kept at Kannur DCC to pay last rites and tributes. Later, the body would be taken to his house at Payyanur and the funeral would be performed in the evening. He was elected as MLA from the Uduma assembly constituency in 1987 as a Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate. Kunhikannan also served as the Kasaragod District Congress Committee (DCC) president during the formation of Kasaragod district in 1984 , Youth Congress state general secretary in 1977, and Chairman of the KeraFed, the apex body of Kerala coconut farmers society ...////...
