Chennai, May 16 (Reporter) Four people were killed and over 10 others injured when a private bus rammed into a stationary lorry and another Tamil State Transport Corporation bus hit the rear
side of the private bus on Thursday.
The accident occurred near Madurantakam, about 110 km from here, on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway in Chengalpattu district.
The mishap occurred when the Chennai-bound private bus from Trichy rammed into the Granite-laden lorry, which developed a snag, and was parked on the road side.
Four people travelling the bus, the front portion of which was badly damaged, were killed on the spot.
Meanwhile, a government bus which was heading for Chennai from Musiri also rammed into the rear side of the private bus.
More than 10 people were injured in the accident and they were admitted to Chengalpattu Government hospital, where the bodies were shifted.
Traffic on the arterial highway was affected for nearly three hours following the accident.
Chief Minister M.K.Stalin condoled the deaths of four people in the accident and announced that necessary relief would be provided to their families by the government.
In a statement here, he said he was pained and anguished over the death of four passengers--
Ms Dhanalakshmi (53), Rajesh (30), Praveen (24) and another woman, who was yet to be identified--and offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
He said he has also directed the authorities to provide best of treatment to the injured...////...
