Four labourers killed, 8 others seriously injured in accident

Kolhapur, Mar 17 (Reporter) Four labourers were killed and eight others, including two women, were injured, two of them in serious condition, in a road accident after a speeding truck mowed them down at Vathar bridge on Pune-Bangalore national highway in Hatkananle tehsil of the district late on Sunday. A group of about 12 labourers of Riyaz Construction were engaged in connecting a concrete mixer machine for a slab of a building at service road near Vathar bridge late tonight, when a speeding truck, which was on way to Pune, vigorously hit all labourers. In this incident, one labourer was killed on the spot while other labourers, including two women, were injured, police said. They all were admitted to Pramila Raje Hospital here, where three more labourers succumbed during medical treatment while two from other injured were stated to be in a serious condition. The deceased was identified as Babalak Imam Munawar (50), Vikas Vadd (32) and Sachin Dhanvade (40), (fourth yet to be identified), all from Bhadole village in Hatkananle tehsil of the district. Injured labourers were identified as Kumar Tukaram Avghade (42), Bhaskar Dadu Dhanvade (60), Savita Laxman Rathod (17), Aishwarya Laxman Rathod (15), Laxman Manohar Rathod (42), Sunil Kamble, Sachin Pandurang Bhat (30), all from Bhadole.
