Kadapa, Dec 28 (Reporter) A four members of a family committed suicide by hanging to a tree at their agriculture field at Diddekunta village in Simhadripuram mandal in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Police said that the deceased Nagendra (41) was a farmer. He took 15 acres of land on lease and raised crops. He borrowed over Rs 20 lakh from private money lenders to raise the crop. However he incurred losses in the farming as the crops failed and the money lenders started exerting pressure on him to repay their money. Unable bear the harassment of the money lenders for money, Nagendra, along with his wife Vani (38), Daughter Gayatri (12) and Bhargav (11) went to this field and committed suicide by hanging themselves to a tree at their fields. When Nagendra and his family did not appear in their house, his mother, along with other family members searched for them and finally found the bodies at their field. After killing their son and daughter, the couple might have hanged themselves, police said. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH for postmortem. A pall of gloom descended on Diddikunta village with the suicide of a farmer with his wife and children. Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu expressed shock and grief over the suicide of a farmer’s family. He directed the officials to conduct an inquiry on the suicide of farmer’s family and submit him the report. Kadapa district in-charge Minister S Savitha spoke to the district Collector and inquired about the incident.
