Mumbai, Feb 28 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly and senior Congress leader, Vijay Wadettiwar, on Wednesday demanded that a total of 202 candidates, who have been recommended from the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) for the Maharashtra Agricultural Service (MAS) examination conducted through MPSC and have been sitting on indefinite protest in Azad Maidan since last two days, should be given appointment letters immediately.
A total of 202 candidates such as Deputy Director of Agriculture (Class 1)-19, Taluka Agriculture officer (Class 2)-61, Mandal Agriculture officer (Class 2)-122 have been recommended by MPSC, he said.
Although the documents of all these candidates have been checked and completed on August 17 and 18, 2023, the process of their appointment has not been completed by the Agriculture Department since last seven months, he informed.
This has created an atmosphere of frustration among these candidates, the Opposition leader said.
Since these candidates have not been given appointment letters since last seven months, they are sitting on indefinite protest in Azad Maidan for last two days, he said.
Due to suspension of these appointments, officers of that rank are not available in Akola and in many districts to hold the posts of Sub-Divisional Agriculture officer, hence these posts have been given to lower-ranked officers, he pointed.
Therefore, Wadettiwar has demanded that the government should take immediate action in this regard and give appointment letters to 202 candidates immediately...////...
