Mumbai, Jun 29 (Reporter) Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Saturday in the Maharashtra Assembly that the 'Chief Minister's Pilgrim Visit Scheme' will be launched soon for senior citizens of the state to visit pilgrimage sites.
Replying to member Pratap Sarnaik's suggestion in the lower house, he said, "Our government belongs to the common people and in the supplementary budget presented yesterday (Friday), various provisions have been made for farmers, labourers, workers, women and youth.
"Our Maharashtra is the land of saints and every year many people visit the pilgrimage sites," he said.
He said that the Chief Minister's Pilgrim Visit Scheme will be launched to make it easier for senior citizens to visit places of pilgrimage.
For this, a comprehensive policy with rules will be prepared shortly, Shinde informed.
This scheme will be implemented by calling for online applications in a rotating manner, he added.
