Gulmarg, Pahalgam continues to be coldest in Valley

Srinagar, Feb 9 (Reporter) The tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam were the coldest in the Valley for the third straight day. The meteorological centre in Srinagar said south Kashmir’s Pahalgam recorded a minimum of minus 10.3 degrees Celsius last night, against the -11.9°C recorded a day ago. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was some 6.2 notches below normal. The minimum temperature at the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was minus 9 degrees Celsius, around 6.7 notches below normal. On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday Gulmarg had recorded a minimum temperature of -12°C. MeT said Srinagar recorded a low of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius and Qazigund in south Kashmir saw a minimum of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius. The frontier district of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 4.9 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature remained below normal in the Jammu division. The night temperature in Jammu was 5.3 degrees Celsius. MeT’s Srinagar centre director Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather will remain dry till February 17 with occasionally cloudy weather towards the evening on February 14. “There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snow from February 18 to 20,” he said...////...
