HC grants 28-day furlough to gangster Arun Gawli

Mumbai, Jan 8 (Reporter) The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has granted a 28 days furlough to gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, who is currently serving a life sentence in Nagpur for the murder of Mumbai Shiv Sena corporator Jamsandekar in Sakinaka area on the city suburb in 2007. A division bench of Justices Nitin Sambre and Vrushali Joshi on Tuesday passed an order in response to a plea moved by Gawli requesting the court to grant furlough as his application was earlier rejected by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons, (East division) Nagpur. The DIG Prisons had rejected Gawli's petition stating the gangster's release may create a law and order situation. Advocate Nagman Ali who appeared for Gawli told the court that he was earlier granted the same relief but there was no law and order problem. After hearing from both sides, the Court granted furlough by imposing certain conditions which include to appear at the local police station...////...
