Hyderabad, July 20 (Reporter) In view of the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Telangana and the unfortunate incident of the breach of the Ashwaraopet tank in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, state Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday directed all the Chief Engineers not to leave headqurters without prior permission of the Secretary.
In a statement here, Uttam directed the officials to monitor the hourly inflows in Minor Irrigation tanks and Major and Medium Irrigation projects.
To ensure proper operation of gates as per guidelines, the Minister asked the irrigation officials to
release flood water as per Standard Operating Procedure and issue advance warnings to downstream habitations with the help of the Collector and Superintendent of Police.
The officials has to ensure that there is no loss of life or property and temporary restoration shall be done immediately.
All field engineers, SEs, EEs, DEEs, AEEs, and AEs, should be available on duty, he said.
Any imminent situation should be reported to the ENC and Secretary through WhatsApp or a phone call, and all should be in constant touch with the civil administration and police departments to mitigate any emergency situation, the Minister added...////...
