Heavy rains with stormy winds likely in parts of Maharashtra in next few days

Pune, Dec 23 (Reporter) With a low-pressure area becoming active in the Bay of Bengal amidst ongoing cyclonic conditions along with increase in humidity in the Arabian Sea, the Meteorological Department on Monday indicated the possibility of heavy rains with stormy winds in parts of Maharashtra in next few days. For the past few days, the minimum and maximum temperatures have increased at most places, in addition to rise in the humidity level and decrease in the dew point, said a report of India Meteorological Department (IMD). As rain-conducive condition has been created in the northeastern states, this will have an effect on temperature in Maharashtra and there is a possibility of rain in some parts of the state in next two days. Consequently, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Madhya Maharashtra on December 26-28. Hence, a yellow alert for rain has been issued in Madhya Maharashtra along with Vidarbha on December 26 while there will likely be heavy rains in the districts of Dhule, Nandurbar and Nashik, said IMD. Also, as the cyclonic winds have increased the humidity in the Arabian Sea, the minimum temperature in the state will gradually increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius in next few days. Light to moderate showers are likely in Vidarbha on December 24 and 25 and humidity in Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra will increase while the sky is likely to be cloudy in some areas. On the other hand, the cold wave is sweeping in the northern states, and extreme cold alert has been given to Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and also the northeastern states, added IMD...////...
