Bengaluru, Oct 1 (Reporter) Hockey India on Tuesday announced a 40-member core probable squad for the Senior Men's National Coaching Camp, to be held at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre here from October 1 to October 19.
The camp is a key part of the Indian team's preparation for the upcoming home series against Germany.
The team for the two-match series against the reigning World Champions, scheduled for October 23 and 24 in New Delhi will be selected from this camp.
India enters the camp on the back of a successful 2024 season, which included winning a second consecutive bronze medal at the Paris Olympics and defending their title at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy in China. The focus will be on sharpening their skills and strategies ahead of the high-profile clash against Germany.
Speaking ahead of the camp, Indian Men’s Hockey Team Captain, Harmanpreet Singh, stressed upon the importance of the camp in ensuring the team’s readiness. "Playing against the World Champions is a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase our abilities. This camp will help us fine-tune our strategies and build cohesion,” he said.
He added, "The core group has a mix of experience and talent. Our objective is to create an environment where each player pushes the other, so that by the end of the camp, we are a stronger, more coordinated team."
