Chennai, June 27 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced in the State Assembly that a new international airport would come up at Hosur--which has been attracting a lot of investments over the years in the electronic goods and EV manufacturing sectors--to further promote industrial development.
Hosur is located in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu and already houses several big industries like Ashok Leyland, Titan.
Making a Statement Under Rule 110 in the Assembly, he said the airport would come up in a 2,000 acre area and would have a capacity to handle 30 million passengers per year.
Stating that his Dravidian model government has been promoting industrial development in all the districts ever since it came to power, he said Hosur has been attracting a lot of investments in the electronic goods and EV manufacturing sectors.
To make the fast growing Hosur into a major economic hub and to create modern infrastructure, the government has been implementing several long term schemes.
In this line, a Master Plan was being prepared for the Hosur town and it was nearing completion.
"Not only Hosur, but also to improve socio-economic development of entire Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri, the government considers that an airport is the need of hour in Hosur", Mr Stalin
said and announced that an International airport would be set in Hosur in a 2,000 acre area
with a capacity to handle 30 million passengers.
Stating that since the DMK government assumed office Tamil Nadu has been growing in all spheres, the Chief Minister said more importantly, the state has been attracting big ticket investments.
A large number of big investors keep coming to the State to set up their facilities due to the conducive and peaceful atmosphere, which not only spurs industrial development, but also generate jobs for youth, he said.
Tamil Nadu was ranked Number one in India in the 2022 Export Index and TN was also the numero uno state in Motor Vehicles, spares, leather goods and electronic goods exports.
He said with a view to achieve the target of making Tamil Nadu a one trillion dollar economy by 2030, the government has been taking a number of steps and the state has grown to attract investors from across the world.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T R B Raaja hailed Mr Stalin's announcement as a moumental step forward will significantly enhance connectivity and further stimulate economic/Industrial growth, not only in Hosur and Krishnagiri district, but also Dharmapuri and all
the adjoining districts.
He said this has been a dream project for him and thanked Mr Stalin turning it into a reality and unlocking the next big Industrial cluster for Taml Nadu.

"I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Honourable Chief Minister for turning this dream into reality and unlocking the next big IndustrialCluster for TamilNadu", he said.
