Hunt on for Kerala driver missing in landslide: Karnataka CM

Ankola, July 21 ((Reporter) Rescue efforts are underway at the site of a landslide on National Highway 66 in which three persons, including a lorry driver from Kerala, are still missing, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Sunday. Dismissing allegations of laxity in the operations to trace driver Arjun, Siddaramaiah said, "Operations are moving quickly.” “We have a report of a missing individual named Arjun from Kerala. Although officials and media from Kerala may be present, we are handling all rescue efforts diligently and promptly," he told reporters after inspecting the site of the July 16 landslide at Shirur near Ankola. Families of those victims whose bodies have been recovered will be provided a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each, said an official. The landslide resulted in the disappearance of 10 individuals.
