Hyderabad, July 15 (Reporter) The city police have arrested one person and seized a large quantity of duplicate electric wires worth Rs 77 lakh. According to credible information, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team, along with copyright authentication field agents, raided a godown situated at Poosalabasthi, Jambagh under the limits of Afzalgunj Police Station. They apprehended Dayaram Choudary (21) of Afzalgunj, Hyderabad, on Sunday for illegally procuring duplicate electric wires, empty carton boxes/packing boxes, and holograms of prominent companies such as Finolex, V-Guard, Polycab, Anchor, Goldmedal, GM Company, etc., from Delhi and Gujarat through their known sources, thereby misleading innocent customers into believing they were original products of the branded companies. Another proprietor, Narender Chowdary, is absconding in the case, a police statement said on Monday. During the inquiry, Dayaram Choudary stated that he is a native of Rajasthan and came to Hyderabad five years ago. He, along with his brother-in-law Narender Chowdary, runs an electric items sales shop named Pawan Enterprises near Gowliguda, Afzalgunj. Their meager earnings from the shop were not sufficient, so they hatched a plan to earn easy money illegally. They started procuring duplicate electric wires, boxes, holograms, and serial numbers of branded cables from Delhi and Gujarat. They stored these duplicate materials and empty boxes at their godown. Later, they packed and sealed the duplicate materials of various gauges (-- 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.5 mm, 4.0 mm) into boxes printed with prominent company logos. They then supplied these to many builders, wholesalers, and retail shops, and sold them to customers in the market at higher prices, earning easy money illegally. People trust the brand for its safety features.
