Hyderabad, Jan 26 (Reporter) Telangana State Road Transport Corporation's (TSRTC) Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, on Friday disclosed plans to acquire 2375 new buses in phases, with 1375 already slated for procurement.
Speaking at the Republic Day Celebrations held at Bus Bhavan, Sajjanar highlighted the successful implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme, providing free bus facilities for women across 7200 buses, transporting over 11 crore women passengers since December 9.
Expressing satisfaction with the scheme's success, Sajjanar commended TSRTC officials and staff for their dedication. The Corporation plans to introduce 1325 diesel and 1050 electric buses in phases to address increased traffic demands, with additional bus acquisitions in consideration.
Sajjanar emphasised the government's support in recruiting drivers and conductors for the new fleet, announcing the initiation of the appointment process for 813 conductors under the Karunya appointments. Training for 80 RTC constables is underway, with plans for their deployment in the first week of February.
Addressing pending matters, Sajjanar assured that the management has brought them to the government's attention for resolution. The expansion plans aim to enhance the efficiency and reach of TSRTC services in response to the growing transportation needs of the state...////...
