Hyderabad, Mar 3 (Reporter) The lustre of the lac bangles is going to shine even brighter from the 'Laad Bazaar' of Charminar as the much-famous Hyderabad Lac Bangles get GI registration tags on Saturday from the GI Registry, Government of India. This will be the 17th product from Telangana State to get the coveted GI registration tag. The application with GI no. 917 was filed in 2022, and almost in 18 months, the GI registration was granted. Subhajit Saha, the GI agent for the applicant, mentioned that the certificate will be handed over to the artisans association in the coming days. The GI application for the Hyderabad Lac Bangles was filed by the Creasent Handicrafts Artisans Welfare Association in June 2022 and was facilitated with the support of the Industry and Commerce Department, Government of Telangana. In a statement, Association President Mohammad Hisamuddin said that the GI will bring in an immense sense of pride and responsibility among the 6,000+ artisan families to not compromise with the quality and motivate them to make good designs and bring in new collections and bangle sets for brides and young girls. ”Our Lac bangles are known for the intricacy of the patterns, which the artisans etch out of crystals, which is remarkable, and the palettes and designs keep evolving over time,” Hisamuddin added. The lac bangles legacy goes back to 500 years with the art of making very intricate and well-designed lac bangles for generations. The Hyderabad Lac Bangles are a must-visit and must-buy for every tourist and bride from all over the country. Lacquer comes from resin, which is melted over a furnace and moulded into a circle, then embellished with crystals, beads, or mirrors. Head of Legal & IPR, Subhajit Saha, mentioned that a unique logo has been designed to associate the craft and build a connection with the customers. We hope that the GI registration will bring in more curiosity among buyers and spur up the demand and sales of the bangles in the market by giving higher returns for their hard work. Saha added Telangana has many GI applications lined up for registration in agriculture and handicrafts in the coming year...////...
