HYDRA to target Illegal structures built after July 2024: Commissioner Ranganath

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (Reporter) The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) Commissioner, Ranganath, has clarified that illegal structures in tank buffer zones and within Full Tank Level (FTL) areas constructed after July 2024 will be demolished. During an inspection of the Kamuni and Maisamma tanks in Kukatpally on Tuesday, Commissioner Ranganath stated, “Structures that existed before HYDRA’s formation or those built with valid permissions will not be affected.” He reassured citizens that HYDRA’s actions are aligned with government policies to protect water bodies and public assets. The Commissioner warned that legal action would be taken against individuals constructing buildings without obtaining the necessary permissions. He added, “We will review newly obtained permissions to ensure they comply with all regulations.” Ranganath addressed rumours suggesting that HYDRA might target the homes of poor individuals or young citizens, calling them baseless. “HYDRA is focused on safeguarding public assets and ensuring the protection of vulnerable groups. We urge people not to believe false propaganda,” he emphasised. To tackle concerns about encroachments on ponds, canals, and parks, HYDRA has announced a public grievance program set to launch in January 2025.
