Bengaluru, Sep 24 (Reporter) Calling himself a target of revenge politics, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday that he would consult legal experts to determine the permissibility of an investigation into his alleged involvement in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
He described his legal challenges, aggravated by a setback in the High Court on the issue of the scam's probe, as part of a broader struggle against "the revenge politics of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government."
The CM said the Congress would steadfastly confront what he described as political retaliation from the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular).
Siddaramaiah's statement followed the Karnataka High Court's dismissal of his petition challenging the Governor Taawarchand Gehlot's sanction for his prosecution over the alleged irregularities concerning the allotment of 14 MUDA sites to his wife.
"I will not hesitate to investigate," Siddaramaiah emphasised, reaffirming his commitment to exploring all available legal avenues, here on Tuesday.
The High Court’s ruling upheld the Governor’s authority to grant necessary sanctions for prosecuting public officials, adding pressure on Siddaramaiah amid the ongoing allegations against him.
Expressing confidence in his position, Siddaramaiah stated, "I am confident that the truth will come out in the next few days and the investigation under 17A will be cancelled."
He conveyed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the people of Karnataka, declaring, "The people of the state are standing behind me in this political struggle. Their blessings are my protection."
Reiterating his faith in the judicial system, the Chief Minister remarked, "I believe in law and the constitution. Truth will finally win in this fight."
Siddaramaiah also highlighted the solidarity within his party, stating, "All the MLAs, leaders, and workers of our party and the Congress High Command have stood by me and encouraged me to continue the fight...////...
