Chennai, Aug 7 (Reporter) A group of fishermen from Tamil Nadu was rescued by
the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with fire wounds off Kakinada coast in Andhra
Pradesh in the mid sea.
A Defence release here on Wednesday evening said, in a swift midnight
operation, the ICG Ships Samudra Paheredar and C-430 evacuated the
fisherman with severe burn injuries from a Tamil Nadu registered fishing
boat, Sengalamman about 180 km from Kakinada.
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) of ICG based at
Chennai received information about a fishermen sustaining bum injuries
late on Tuesday night.
The HQ, ICG Region (East) immediately diverted ICG Ship ICGS Samudra
Paheredar to the location.
On reaching the location it was found that the fishermen had sustained serious
second-degree burns upto 30 percent and the remaining crew has suffered minor
injuries.
Immediate medical assistance was provided to the injured fisherman and he
was brought on ship.
Thereafter, on reaching close to the land, he was transferred to ICG ship C-430
off Kakinada at 0630 hrs otoday morning.
The ICGS C-430 entered Kakinada harbour at best speed and coordinated with
the Fisheries department, Marine Police and Government General Hospital,
Kakinada to ensure that the patient can be handed over swiftly.
The distressed fishermen was immediately shifted to intensive Care Unit of
Government General Hospital, Kakinada for further Medical Management...////...
