Siwan, Bihar, May 18 (Reporter) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday asked RJD Chief Lalu Prasad to go to Pakistan if he wanted to give reservation to Muslims as there is no provision to provide reservations based on religion in India.
Sarma while addressing a mammoth public meeting in favour of an NDA candidate seeking support for Lok Sabha elections, said that RJD Chief Prasad had recently advocated for giving reservations to Muslims while there was no provision in the country to provide reservations based on religion. If Lalu was so interested in giving reservation to Muslims, he should go to Pakistan as it was not possible in India, he pointed out.
" Congress government has given reservation to Muslims snatching quota of OBCs in Karnataka and the same thing was done in Andhra Pradesh when party was in power there", Sarma said adding that Baba Bheem Rao Ambedkar and Dr Rajendra Prasad had prepared constitution and no provision was made to give reservation based on religion. Congress and RJD were not honouring the constitution which was a sacred epic like " Gita " for his party BJP, he stressed.
" As per the constitution, only SCs, STs, and OBCs could be given reservation and no one else", the BJP leader said. He exhorted the people to extend their huge support to NDA candidates to ensure that PM Narendra Modi could become PM again after the ongoing Lok Sabha elections...////...
