IMD predicts heavy rains in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 30 (Reporter) The low-pressure area over west central & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh & South Odisha moved west-northwestwards and became a well-marked low pressure on Friday. Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Manorama Mohanty said the well-marked low pressure is likely to move further west-northwestwards towards north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts. It will further intensify into a depression over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 36 hours. Under its impact, heavy rainfall will occur at several districts in Odisha in the next two days. The IMD had already issued red, yellow, and orange warnings to various districts in the state. The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast from August 30 to September 1. The IMD sources said squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph and gusting to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail over central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Bay of Bengal along and off Odisha coast till September 1 next...////...
